RECYCLING ART

I love it when my art is recycled and becomes a brand new piece.

For the Strathfieldsaye Primary School Art Fair, as well as being the Artist in Residence, I donated a large piece of cotton drill which featured my photographic images of our local Gum tree flowers.

This piece I named Plop due to the sound the gum tree flowers make when they land on the ground after local birds have fed off them. This artwork fabric featured in two ephemeral exhibitions, 2022 and 2023.

Now in 2024 it has gone on to inspire students to draw and paint and create What Dragons Eat (Vegan Dragons) from the local bush.

Come along to the fair to see the children’s handiworks.

19th and 20th July, 2024.

2 1/2 hour journey there and back to deliver art work.

Bill and I used public transport in order to deliver my newest artwork to @redgallery Fitzroy North, Victoria, Australia.

We took a 2 hour train to Melbourne/Naarm and then walked to the tram stop to board the number 11 further 24 minutes to arrive right outside the gallery door.

The piece is continuing my exploration of the female form with a hand made paper mannequin. Consisting of pieces from my Giclee images, the fragments have been moulded to shape by hand onto a paper mache base and protected with a lovely gloss for hardness and shine.

“Self” is part of the group show at @redgallery that opens this week encompassing all things that paper can become.

June 26th to 14th July 2024.
