Watching the antics of these birds always puts a smile on my face. Hope you feel the same.
National Trust Community Heritage Competition Winner.
My story about remembering the old ‘Coles Caf’ in Bendigo and what it meant to a young mum new to town has won the National Trust project called Australia’s Community Heritage.
As part of the launch the Trust ran a competition whereby all contributions to the site before September 6 would go in the running to win a year’s free entry to all National Trust sites in their state.
A panel of judges decided after much deliberation that my story entitled ‘Much needed refuge for new mum’ was “the very best contribution to the new site.”
I received my prize this week and am looking forward to visiting lots of sites over the next year.

On Monday I had the pleasure of meeting some of the kinder children at Annie Galvin childcare centre in Bendigo.
We talked a little about what it is like to be an author and then I read from my book The Puppet Show, with special guests the big bad wolf and one of the little pigs.
Dr Jelly Belly made an entrance and then we ended with one of my poems that will be published next year.
It was a lovely morning and I enjoyed watching the children create some lovely paintings using some characters from my talk.
Thank you Madeline Roberts for inviting me and to Carly Bell for the photographs.
