Darren Woodgate, Reservoir Officer with Goulburn Murray Water, took us into where water was being let into the low Eppalock Lake. This liquid gold was a site for us, gushing into the low lake, which we were made even more aware of as we looked up to where the water level on the tower is usually.
Darren Woodgate has been with Goulburn Murray for 9 – 10 years and is looking forward to seeing the lake full, something he has not been witness to yet. He told us that some old timers have said to him that when Lake Eyre fills in central Australia, Lake Eppalock fills as well…Lake Eyre is currently filling, let’s hope that is a good sign!
