The original orchardists bought this land in 1858 after coming from the gold diggings at Campbells Creek.
The original homestead was built in 1874 and is still lived in today by Mrs Lang Senior. The home is built from granite blocks, which were built by the same people who built most homes in the Harcourt district at the time.
The orchard survived the new freeway, by it going to the back of the property, some of which was compulsorily acquired for the freeway.
Gavin Lang runs the orchard with his wife largely. On the first day I went there were also 2 pickers who did not wish to be photographed. Christina and Nathan.
GAvin took me around the property, allowing me total access both today 19 03 09 and for further photographs.
Among the things I photographed today included the
Oldest trees on the property are these pear trees, just down from the original homestead.
