Re Community Mural Project
Vision Australia Bendigo has received a community grant from the City of Greater Bendigo to complete a community mural within the four Bendigo Day Programs. The Vision Australia Day Programs provide recreation and social support for people with blindness and low vision. The majority of the day centre clients are elderly, frail and often socially isolated. The Community Mural aims to give our clients the opportunity to participate in a project and to interact with the community.
The Day Centre staff are inviting students and local artists to attend our Day Programs to help the clients complete the project. The Day Programs run from our Bendigo Office on the corner of Murphy St and McIvor Road on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am – 2pm. Different clients attend on each day. Each group has been given 1 -2 canvases to complete. The groups will design their own canvases with the help and input from students and/or local artists. Materials have been purchased to allow clients to experience a range of artistic mediums. We aim to complete the project by early December.
The following dates and time have been added to our program to work on completing the canvases.
Thurs 24th Oct
Thurs 7th Nov
Thurs 21st Nov
Thurs 5th Dec
The Day Program staff and clients are very excited about running this community project and are looking forward to assistance from Bendigo Students and Local Artists.
